what money cannot buy.

"money can buy medicine
but not health.

money can buy you a house
but not a home.

money can buy you companions
but not friends.

money can buy you entertainment
but not happiness.

money can buy you food
but not appetite.

money can buy you a bed
but not sleep.

money can buy you a crucifix
but not a Saviour.

money can buy you a good life
but not eternal life."

let His love flow down

Let His Love Flow Down

If you knew your end was near,
If your final song was here.
What would it be?
If you’d one thing you could say
Before your world was swept away.
What would it be?
If you had to take it all
All the moments, great and small,
And leave a single sentence for the world?

When all is said and done,
What’s the message of the Son?
Let His love, let His love flow down.

Let His love flow down like a river
Let the healing stream start to run.
From the heart of the Lamb through
The hands of His children,
Let His love, let His love flow down.

As we see the end is near,
And the Lamb is almost here to take us home,
As we wait to see His face,
We are channels of His grace and love alone.

So let’s live with heart and soul,
See each child as precious gold,
The image of our Father here on earth.

When all is said and done,
What’s the message of the Son?
Let His love, let His love flow down.

Let His love flow down like a river
Let the healing stream start to run.
From the heart of the Lamb through
The hands of His children,
Let His love, let His love flow down.

unexpected grace.

unexpected grace by sheila walsh.
a book about comfort in the midst of loss.
didn't expect this book to bring tears when i casually picked it up from the library shelf, but it did.

reading about death always stirs up emotions in me.
especially as i grow older.....

death.
it comes.
it comes.

i love you mum and dad.

A Final Word To The Reader

"I began this book by saying that Eleanor found in her dying what she had been looking for in her living and that I got "over myself" enough to see beyond the stuff that doesn't matter to love my mother-in-law, my sister in Christ. I told you that the events that happened in the last few weeks of her life made me realize I could try to write this, because in the end Eleanor trusted me in her most vulnerable, weak moments.

No words can express my gratitude to God for plunging Eleanor and me into His river of mercy. we could have lived our whole lives and never reached out to each other - and we would have missed so much. Each of us longs for an intimate relationship, but we are most afraid of it because we will be seen in all our colors - some pretty, some dark and ugly.

Yet I am finding out that when we take that risk to be known and loved, the very process gives us an opportunity to change. Eleanor was gifted with peace in the midst of pain. I see now that Christ does not always remove the pain. He meets us in the middle of it and walks with us to the other side. There are too many mysteries here for me to grasp, but I do know this: it is easy to love those who are like us, but we are changed by loving those who are not."
