about God
some interesting things that i picked out from the chinese article that bj asked us to read1. instead of asking "why does bad things happen to good people?", the right question should be, "why does good things happen to bad people?" every moment we are alive is by the grace of God. every bad thing that happens to us on earth is already an act of grace from God. our deserved punishment for our sinfulness is to be thrown into the lake of fire.
2. just like an author of a book does not write to prove his own existence, that's why God didn't write the Bible to prove himself. it is a known fact that He did exist.
3. one way we can know that God exist is by the moral standards of the world. in every part of the world, whatever culture it might be, lying is wrong and love is good. God is the one who placed this standard in mankind.
4. by asking, "who created God?" is just like asking the question, "what does blue smell like?" the color blue is not a category of things that produce smell. likewise, God is not a category of created things. God is self existent. if there was someone who created God, then God wouldn't be God.
5. "since God created everything, then God must have created evil too!" nope! when God created everything, it was good. God did not create evil. does darkness exist? actually...no. darkness does not exist, darkness is just an absence of light. does coldness exist? no! coldness is just an absence of heat. likewise, God did not create evil, he just allowed the absence of good. He didn't create us like robots where we just do everything good. He gave us a choice to worship Him truly and freely.

siloso beach
playing with the youths at sentosa was fun! especially the eating fruits part. i love pomelo and i love coconut! so i didn't mind eating them. as for papaya, well, it was OOKKK.. but for both the coconut and papaya, i felt like i was eating sand. gross. so i spit some out... it's not good to eat sand. will cause indigestion and stomach problems! so, please don't eat sand. we also build a rather huge sand castle. it was fun piling up all the sand! played a little bit of ultimate captian's water balloon. but the water balloons just kept bursting... every minute, another water balloon had to be used. and oh, i wasn't really wet.. BUT, naughty aud who was all wet just came to hug me from behind! eeeee.... and that's how i got a little wet. (: if i didn't had badminton, i'd definitely stay longer. but still, i'm glad i got to play with them for a little while at sentosa. (:

orthodontist
went to see my orthodontist at park mall today. i was reading through those brochures on how to brush your teeth properly, and how to take care of your teeth. then i came to the realization that the way i brush my teeth is so careless and so 'anyhow'.. usually i just use my electric toothbrush, quickly brush my teeth so that i can get to bed soon. and in the morning, in order not to be late, i just do a quick job with my teeth. but today i read that everyone has to spend at least 2 minutes brushing their teeth, and i have to brush tooth by tooth, outside, inside, everywhere! i just tried it, and it took me so long. i'm not a person who flosses my teeth. but today i read that if we don't floss our teeth, we leave 40% plague still stuck in our teeth. ewww... hope these facts will give me more motivation to take better care of my teeth!

B & B
crab, lobster, prawn, sashimi, roasted lamb, fudge cake, pasta, chocolates, cakes, ice cream, oyster and many more of which i don't know how to describe... food!! there was so much food at Bar and Billiard (Raffles Hotel)! the food there was quite unique, comes in small portions so that you can try a little bit of everything. i ate until i really couldn't eat anymore. and the service was kinda fantastic. i felt like a princess there! hahahah! they clear the dirty plates the moment you are done, they anticipate what you might need and do it for you even before you ask. so, yup, it's nice being 'pampered' by such good service!
fel was a good food tour guide. she knows so much about food and desserts! i'm glad she was there, so at least we didn't make a fool of ourselves. wei and i initially thought that the plates of cheese were cakes la! so unglam of us!
i can feel that my stomach has expanded...
too bad C and A couldn't join us...
also must thank LK for being there, so we could get the staff discount of 50%!

a quiet understanding
i have friends who understand. one through a comforting msn chat, the other through an email. God really uses people in special ways... through words, through hugs, through chats. i thank Him for friends. just as the Lord forgave, so we ought to forgive! that's my key verse for this week!! i like the lyrics of this song 'there's a quiet understanding'. it goes...there's a quiet understanding

pulau dayang, pulau aur
i'm back from diving! i passed the course! a lifetime certification to dive anywhere in the world. diving is easier than it seems. had so much worries about being unable to complete the skills and about equalising my sinus and ears, but these weren't a problem. and diving is actually safer than it might seem. after reading the diving book, the dangers of diving stood up. but when i actually got down to doing it, it was quite simple.because it's my first diving trip, so i was more caught up with making sure i didn't knock or step into any corals, and making sure i was neutrally buoyant, and making sure i breathed properly... so i wasn't paying that much attention to the fishes around me or just totally enjoying the sea.
but of course, i saw many fishes. i saw NEMO! many of them. swimming around corals, i saw colourful fishes, and a huge blue starfish. i think as i get more used to diving, i can enjoy the underwater life more. schools of fishes would just swim past you, and there was this fish that stared right into my eyes! i was freaked out for a moment... haha.
with the instructors around, making sure we are ok, and with my buddy, i felt more relaxed and more confident! my buddy and i stuck so close to the instructor during our free dive! it's quite hard to tell people apart underwater, with the mask on, and the equipment. so my buddy and i just glued our eyes on the instructor's board shorts! haha.. until now i can still remember how it looks! so just followed closely to his board shorts! we were so afraid that we'd get lost!
during the diving trip, this was the itinerary: travel, sleep, eat, dive, eat, dive, eat, dive, sleep, dive, eat, dive, eat, travel. as you can see, a dive trip is all about diving and eating! so it's quite relaxed.
i wanted to go diving to see another side of God's creation, and i did! the sea creatures were beautiful and carefree. another highlight of the trip was the many stars i saw in the night! amazing! God's the awesome creator.
the Lord has taught me many lessons during the trip. i pray that He continue to mould me to become more like Him each day. to love, to have joy, to have peace, to have patience, to have kindness, to have goodness, to have gentleness, to have self-control. yeap.

fun fun and more fun!
yay! tomorrow will be my diving trip. excited!! hee. anyway, we had a christian student meeting at my house today. i had fun playing little games with them, eating together, watching 'night at the museum' and jamming! hope they all had fun! thanks personnels for making it possible! came home rather late the past 2 nights because i had pool lessons for diving. initially it was kinda scary having to breathe in water through the regulator. but after a while, i got the hang of it and it wasn't that bad. well, the instructors are kinda funny at times. and together with the friends i'm learning with, it's just hilarious. haha. at times, as the instructor is in the midst of teaching us something, one of my friends would make a little comment and which sends all of us bursting out in laughter.... hahaha... aiyo. together with the instructor's sense of humour and sarcasm, well, we always enjoy our lesson! (: people make the difference, people make learning fun.
