Penjagamu.

Aku melayangkan mataku ke gunung-gunung
Dari manakah akan datang pertolonganku?

Pertolonganku ialah dari TUHAN
Yang menjadikan langit dan bumi

Ia takkan membiarkan kakimu goyah
Penjagamu tidak akan terlelap

Sesungguhnya tidak terlelap dan tertidur
Penjaga Israel

TUHANlah Penjagamu
TUHANlah naunganmu
Di sebelah tangan kananmu

Matahari tidak menyakit engkau
Pada waktu siang
Atau bulan pada waktu malam

TUHAN akan menjaga engkau
Terhadap segala kecelakaan
Ia akan menjaga nyawamu

TUHAN akan menjaga keluar masukmu
Dari sekarang sampai selama-lamanya

rejoice in the Lord.

O Rejoice in the Lord

God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man
Give thanks to the Lord though your testing seems long
In darkness He giveth a song

*O rejoice in the Lord, He makes no mistake
He knoweth the end of each path that I take
For when I am tried and purified
I shall come forth as gold

I could not see through the shadows ahead
So I looked at the cross of my Savior instead
I bowed to the will of the Master that day
Then peace came and tears fled away

Now I can see testing comes from above
God strengthens His children and purges in love
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care
Through purging more fruit I will bear

peer pressure.

i realised today that i give in easily to peer pressure.
it's like compromising.
sometimes i just don't have the courage to stand up for what i believe is right.
in the eyes of many, it's just something small.
but still. it tells alot about my character.
the need to be accepted takes over.
the laziness of explaining my stand takes over.
the fear of people's reaction takes over.
and that's bad.

two zero zero nine.

somethings i took back from the retreat.
for year two thousand and nine.

1. take courage.
2. be faithful.

3. stay focused on God.
4. persevere.
5. anticipate.
6. do God's work out of a love for Him and a love for people.

hee. got to talk to wednesday for a little while at the retreat! ((:
hope you get to learn rollerblade kays!!
hung hung is so adorable.

when we're tired -
that's when we need God's word the most.
sometimes we think that spending time with God
takes up our time and makes us even more tired.
but we fail remember that His word refreshes us and gives us hope.
and it helps us go on.
when we're tired -
don't distant ourselves from what we need the most.

thanks for telling me this. (:
it's true.
i realised.

Friday, October 17
on every side

on every side.

karen kingsbury has this special ability to bring the characters in her books to life.
her books never fail to bring tears.
i never thought books could make me cry.
but her books always did.
reading about their feelings, their difficulties, their struggles, their joys, their hurt, their pain.
the characters seem so real, as if they really existed and i knew them personally.
karen kingsbury also focuses her books alot on God.
through her books, i've learnt how God is a part of our everyday lives.
to think about God, to focus our thoughts on Him.

in this book.

there's faith.
i like her most.
she's a girl who has a sincere love for people, which showed in her eyes and in her smile. to many people, reading the Bible is like a chore, but for her, it's her source of encouragement and strength.
when she faces a difficult situation, she remembers God's promises to be with her through the difficulty. and she takes courage from that. praying and thinking about God is part of her everday life. whenever she feels helpless, the first thing she'll naturally do is - to pray.
she stood up for what was right. and in the midst of doing that, she lost her job. but that didn't cause her to waver in her faith.
she's also someone who believes in people. that God has a way to change them, to bring them back to Him.

there's jordan.
as a young boy, he was strong in his faith. he loved Jesus alot. his mother had a very strong faith in God too. she fell very ill for a period of time. and jordan prayed to God to heal his mother. as a boy, he believed totally in God, that God will listen to his prayer and heal his mother. but his mother died. leaving him with his sister, the only family he had, the only one he loved. he prayed that God will let them be together, but the social workers took his sister away, to live separately.
since then, he believed that all that talk about God was a lie. as he grew into a young man, he built walls around his heart. he was so angry, bitter and disappointed with God for not answering his prayers as a sincere young boy who trusted fully in God and loved God with all his heart.
but God never gave up on him. through situations, and through people, jordan finally broke down and realized God's love for him. he regained the love he had for God as a young boy.
it reminds me of how we all face times of doubt about God's love for us, especially when God doesn't seem to answer our cries of help or our sincere prayers. but it's really about trusting that God will work things out for the good of those who love Him and walk in His ways. we need to ask God to help us remove the walls we've built around our heart. walls that hinders us from receiving His love.

there's joshua.
he's someone who feels very inadequate to do what God wanted him to do. but yet, he always remembers what God said - to be strong and courageous, and that the battle is the Lord's. a friend once told me this, from second chronicles twenty, that the battle is the Lord's, not ours, so we need not be afraid.

doing God's work is simple. it's just to believe in Jesus.
living life as a Christian is simple. it's just to love God.

when we believe in Jesus and when we love God, things will work out for good.
situations change, people change, feelings change.
but God doesn't.

letting go of me, holding on to You.

help me to trust.

with hope.

uncle chris. aunty anny. rachel. cheryl. ian.

With Hope.

This is not at all how
We thought it was supposed to be
We had so many plans for you
We had so many dreams
And now you've gone away
And left us with the memories of your smile
And nothing we can say
And nothing we can do
Can take away the pain
The pain of losing you, but...

We can cry with hope
We can say goodbye with hope
'Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no
And we can grieve with hope
'Cause we believe with hope
(There's a place by God's grace)
There's a place where we'll see your face again
We'll see your face again

And never have I known
Anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more
The wisdom of God's plan
But through the cloud of tears
I see the Father's smile and say well done
And I imagine you
Where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
'Cause now you're home
And now you're free, and...

We have this hope as an anchor
'Cause we believe that everything
God promised us is true, so...

So we can cry with hope
And say goodbye with hope
We wait with hope
And we ache with hope
We hold on with hope
We let go with hope

hebrews ten

and let us consider how to
stir one another to love and good works,
not neglecting to meet together,
as is the habit of some,
but encouraging one another,
and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

that's like saying 'jia you' to each other.
