views of LTA's decision

My views on the article above. (this is what i wrote in the Real Estate and Investment Law forum that my lecturer set up)

It is unfair that LTA gave the residents such a short notice and expect them to move out so quickly. Imagine all the hassle and trouble they would have to go through to look for another flat, to get used to a new neighbourhood and to move all their furniture to their new house. There are many more inconveniences that would arise from the 'order' given by the LTA for the residents of Hock Kee House. It appears that the LTA has tried to find all possible means of avoiding the decision of getting the people to move out. I'm not sure if the reasons given are merely to justify themselves.

But on the other hand, the LTA is also building the circle line for the people in Singapore. It would definitely benefit majority of the people living in Singapore because it means an improvement in public transportation. But for the sake of the Singaporeans who will be using the circle line, getting the 7 shophouses and 28 residential units to move away would probably be the best solution. It might be difficult for some of them to leave the comfort of living in that area, but who knows? Maybe the residents are looking forward to moving to a newer and better environment? As the LTA, they have to look at the bigger picture and we cannot expect them to focus on these few residents whose houses sadly happen to be in the way of the construction of the circle line.

help me to trust.
